Trusted NGO’s & Initiatives

In this incredibly trying time, the increasing need we are surrounded by can feel overwhelming. In South Africa alone, an alarming number of people are unable to work and as a result, feed their families. We noticed that many are more than willing to do their part in helping address the need but are either unsure how to go about it, or are unsure if their money is actually going towards helping those who really need it.

To help out, we’ve put together a list of trusted NGO’s and groups with which we are associated and who’s ethics we can verify. These are all organisations on the front line, addressing the needs of the most vulnerable communities. This is by no means an exhaustive list as there are many incredible people out there doing fantastic work and we plan on expanding the number of organisations going forward. Please do consider contributing directly to them as they’re all being stretched to their limit during this crisis.

LIFE Community Services

  • Focus: Community Outreach, Education, Relief, Sustainable Development, Child Welfare

  • Location: George, South Africa

LIFE Community Services is an NPO that brings holistic services into vulnerable communities and provides safe spaces for vulnerable children.

LIFE has been doing the following daily before “lockdown” –

  • Providing spiritual input as well as counselling and support in the face of neglect and abuse.

  • Feeding over a 1000 children daily.

  • Educating over 500 children through Preschool (3,4,5 year’s old) Grade R, 1, 2 , 3 and 4.

  • Equipping a team of 6 in sustainable development to generate income for the NGO but also to develop the skills level of the staff.

  • Planting food gardens to feed the children.

  • Developing community focused leaders from the areas we are involved in.

Since lockdown in South Africa due to Covid-19, LIFE has continued to take initiatives and have continued to impact the community and the children. This program involves many volunteers from the local community opening their homes to make sandwiches from the donations of individuals, churches and businesses. Because of the generosity from many, LIFE has been able to continue to feed over 1300 children daily.

“Isipho”, the sustainable development arm of LIFE also makes masks to sell to the public, clinics, hospitals, businesses, etc. This aids with generating an income to fund projects to reach the children within their own street or neighborhood.

Life Community Services will continue to strive to be an organisation on the forefront of connecting with vulnerable children and adults in a holistic way. This will mean new innovative ways going forward in a practical way, but with the same core values of love, dignity and respect.

We have assisted the homeless in the Western Cape with food parcels and spiritual support, and we have brought relief to vulnerable families living in informal settlements across South Africa. We have also partnered with our government in the fight for prevention, detection, care and support.
